It’s Christmas Break! – Baked Brie!

Dec 15, 2010 by lanashabit

Are you headed to a holiday party with friends, family or co-workers this season? A friend gave me this recipe a few years ago at an ugly Christmas sweater party and I’ve been able to make it for all my Christmas parties since then. It has become a signature appetizer that everyone loves to dig into. The sweaters might be ugly, but the appetizer does not have to be ;)

This baked brie is really quick to make, requires only 5 ingredients and will be the first appetizer to go. It also freezes really well. Crackers and sliced apples to make this appetizer complete.

Raspberry Baked Brie

1 round of Brie
1 tube of crescent dinner rolls
Raspberry jam
Maple syrup for drizzling
Brown sugar  for sprinkling

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Roll out crescent dinner rolls and place brie round in the center. Spoon out desired amount of raspberry jam on top of the brie.

2. Fold the dough around the brie round.

3. Make sure there is only one layer of dough on top of the brie round. Cut away the excess dough with scissors.

4. Drizzle with maple syrup and sprinkle with brown sugar. Just eyeball it.

4. For a small brie round, bake for 15 minutes. For a large round (pictured below), bake for 35 minutes or until golden brown.

5. Serve with apples and crackers.

(Brie round from last Christmas just out of the oven – full brie gooeyness vs. ‘light’ brie version)

…and don’t forget your empty serving platter when you leave the party!

(‘light’ brie)

Notes:

  • Opt to use a regular brie with out the casing (i.e. not the ‘light’ version). The ‘light’ version does not seem to get as “gooey” as the regular brie.
  • I’ve had to bake some large brie rounds for up to 45 minutes, so just make sure to keep an eye on it.

What is your favorite holiday appetizer?
