Agave Roasted Chickpeas
This morning I had my Thermal-Fluids midterm. I started studying last Sunday and hit the books hard Wednesday evening and ALL day yesterday. Some other students in the class and I formed a study group and met at a coffee shop for 5 hour sessions – Wednesday and Thursday night. We initially decided it would be weird to go to a coffee shop to hang out and not study. Turns out, we are all becoming really good friends and I even roped two of the boys into Salsa Saturdays
Engineering is a very competitive major, but it seems that there is less stress and more animosity this semester. We are all involved in senior design projects that are very time consuming, but not as stressful as previous years. We are no longer in classes where professors are trying to fail us out. Super Senior year seems to be bringing out the best in people. Thank gosh.
We got are hands on some old tests, studied all the notes and went in this morning with our chests held high.

However, the test was as hard as that looks. We all walked out of the test with our heads down in shame. The professor thru a curve ball. We studied and knew turbines, compressors, pumps and engines like the back of our hands. But for some reason, I was not able to solve for the variables that were needed, much less, derive an equation that would allow me to finish one of the problems.
….And how in the heck do you find the weight of a gas going into a turbine if you do not know what the gas is?!?!? Your guess is as good as mine. I’m crossing my fingers and praying to the partial credit gods.
I ran out of class and straight to the computer lab to research Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) for a HW assignment due in my Conservation of Energy class. I managed to finish the assignment in the 40 minutes I had. Yes, sweat was being wiped from my forehead.

I know that was nerdy, I just had to vent.
I am now vegging out in front of the Food Network Channel TV and just whipped up a scruptious afternoon snack. I wanted something filling and sweet….
Agave Roasted Chickpeas
1 Can Chickpeas (drained and rinsed)
1.5 T. Agave Nectar*
1/4 t. Cinnamon
1/4 t. Vanilla
*I’ve also made these with honey, but prefer the lightness of agave.
- Preheat oven to 350°F
- Place parchment paper or aluminum foil on a baking sheet. Spread chickpeas out and pat dry
- Mix remaining ingredients in small bowl and drizzle over the chickpeas. Stir to combine
- Bake for 15 minutes, stir, and bake for another 15 minutes. Cool and enjoy

Doesn’t it look like a famous piece of art. You know, the ones that look like a kid splattered paint on the canvas. lol
I’m going to munch on these while I watch TV, hit up a spin class at the rec and hang out with some friends. I think we are going to have a low-key movie night because we are wiped. Do you know of any good movies that we should rent?
Have a fabulous Friday!!
